New Jersey Local News reported a Livingston man Monday filed a lawsuit in New Jersey over what he said were “serious, painful and permanent injuries” he sustained in the May 12, 2015 Amtrak derailment in Philadelphia. The man “was a passenger on the Northeast Regional train traveling from Washington to Boston when it derailed,” the article reports. “Amtrak in court filings has said it will admit liability for compensatory damages, covering wrongful deaths, medical expenses, pain and suffering and lost wages,” the article adds. The Livingston man also seeks punitive damages for Amtrak’s “wanton disregard and reckless indifference” to safety during the derailment.
