Reuters reports that, according to a release by the US Agricultural Department, Minnesota-based Huisken Meat Company, a supplier to Wal-Mart, has recalled approximately 90,000 pounds of beef products that may be “contaminated with extraneous wood materials.” No illnesses in connection with the product in question, Sam’s Choice Black Angus Vidalia Onion brand beef patties, have been reported.
ABC World News (1/6, story 12, 0:15, Muir, 5.84M) reported grocery chain Wegmans has recalled more than 1,000 pounds of chicken “after it was discovered some of the chicken hit shelves without being properly inspected.” The Boston Globe (1/7, Johnston, 1M) reports that the recall, which is “classified as a high health risk,” was announced by the US Department of Agriculture.
