During the summer months a lot of people vacation to the shore areas to enjoy the warm weather, beaches and other attractions the shore has to offer. Unfortunately the overcrowding in some of these shore towns can lead to accidents. Just last year Gill and Chamas received a verdict of $1.58 million from a Cape May County Jury. The jury awarded the funds to the plaintiff now 56, who currently lives in Pennsylvania.
The jury awarded $1.5 million for past and future pain and suffering, disability and loss of enjoyment of life. $60,000 was for future medical expenses. The remaining $20,000 was for past medical treatment and expenses. At the time of the accident the plaintiff was riding her bike in Sea Isle City and attempting to cross over into Townsends Inlet Bridge. During this time the defendant driving a work vehicle abruptly veered right and struck the plaintiff on her bicycle.
The injuries sustained were a broken left elbow, rotator cuff tears and wrist injuries. She underwent surgery to repair her elbow and had two years of physical therapy.
