A Jersey City man who was in a motorcycle accident in 2016 has received a $2 million settlement, according to his attorney. The man was left partially blind after the accident.
A lawsuit said Dionel Arroyo, 33, was riding his motorcycle on Marin Boulevard at 16th Street in Jersey City on April 16, 2016 when he was struck by a car and thrown from his motorcycle, the New Jersey Law Journal reported.
The driver of the car, a 75-year-old man, was making a left turn and said he never saw Arroyo, the website reported.
Arroyo was wearing a helmet at the time, but he still broke the bones near his right eye, leaving him blind in that eye, the report said. Arroyo, who works for Port Authority in tunnel operations, has significant scarring from a craniotomy procedure he underwent, the website said. Arroyo has since gone back to work.
The settlement, for $2.04 million, was reached in December 2017.
