Chinese man says Samsung Note 7 burst into flames.
Bloomberg News (9/27, 2.49M) reports Hui Renjie said his “Note 7 exploded Monday morning, less than 24 hours” after it was delivered, causing “minor injuries to two of his fingers” and damaging his MacBook. Renjie said a “Samsung representative visited him soon afterward and asked to take away the phone,” but he declined because “he doesn’t trust the company to reveal the reason for the fire and plans to publicize the issue.” In an emailed statement, Samsung said “We are in contact with the customer and will conduct a thorough examination of the device in question once we receive it.”
CNN Money (9/27, Riley, 3.7M) reports Samusng “says the battery problem has been found in a tiny fraction of Note 7 phones,” and China was “not included” in the Note 7 recall “because the batteries in the phones sold there came from a different supplier.” According to the article, there have been “four reports of battery fires in China,” but Samsung has “rebutted at least two of the reports.”
