A truck driver was awarded $2 Million in a binding arbitration for brain injuries suffered in a head-on collision with an SUV. The accident occurred on November of 1999, when a Chevrolet Suburban crossed a yellow line in Brick and smashed into the plaintiff’s car says his truck accident lawyer Peter Chamas of Gill and Chamas in Woodbridge, NJ.
The plaintiff suffered a ruptured spleen, internal bleeding, and broken bones in his hip, pelvis, shoulder and around his eyes. He underwent an emergency splenectomy, spend four weeks in a brain trauma unit and about four more in rehabilitation. He later had partial shoulder-replacement surgery. His shoulder and abdomen are scarred, his shoulder has decreased range of motion and arthritic changes in his hip eventually will require a hip replacement, says Peter Chamas.
