Judge rejects GM’s motion to dismiss faulty ignition switch case
The USA Today reports that US District Judge Jesse Furman rejected a motion by General Motors asking him to dismiss a lawsuit from plaintiff Robert Scheuer, who “is suing GM over injuries he received in 2014 when his 2003 Saturn Ion crashed.” Scheuer claims the front airbags of his vehicle did not deploy following the crash, and he attributes it to the faulty ignition switch defect. Bob Hilliard, Scheuer’s attorney, said in a statement, “Today’s ruling paves the way for the jury to have an unfettered and full view of GM’s behavior in covering up this defect.” Hilliard said, “This gross negligence evidence will now be shown under the bright lights of a court of law and there can be little doubt to the true damning nature of the truth of what GM did.”
