National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health

National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is a federal agency that does research and makes suggestions to avoid injuries in the workplaces. The research they conduct is critical to provide solutions to issues in the workplace. The Institute carries out this work in an effort to protect the health and safety of the United States’ 120 million workers, according to Statista. NIOSH provides the only dedicated federal investment for research required to prevent the cost of work-related injuries and fatalities. The safety and health risks place huge burdens on workers, their families, businesses, and communities.

The Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 established NIOSH. NIOSH partners with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA is part of the U.S. Department of Labor, and it develops and enforces workplace safety and health regulations.

National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health protects many sector programs including agriculture, constructions, healthcare, manufacturing, mining, public safety, services, transportation, warehousing, and trading. They evaluatee workplace hazards and recommend solutions when requested by employers, workers, or state or federal agencies.
